Participants leave our interactive info sessions with the basic immigration, procedural and intercultural knowledge and skills they need to succeed as an international student or scholar at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Virtual Curricular Practical Training Info Session

Curricular Practical Training (CPT) is a work authorization available to F-1 students to engage in paid or unpaid training opportunities off campus. These may include an internship/externship, practicum, capstone, off-campus course project, cooperative education, or alternative work/study. If you are enrolled in a class that requires you to do work off campus, you likely need CPT. Come learn about eligibility for CPT and the process of applying at this information session!

OISS Tabling at On-Campus Employment Fair

Looking for a part-time job this semester? Please join Student Employment at Human Resources for the Fall 2024 Student Part-Time On-campus Job Fair! OISS will be in the resource section to answer your questions.

Meet with Tulane departments interested in hiring students for part-time employment. All are welcome! Speaking with a department at the job fair does not guarantee you a job.

If you have a resume, please bring a few copies (recommended, not required.) Don't forget to dress for success! Professional attire is recommended. Register on Handshake or stop by on the day of the fair!

On-Campus Employment Info Session for F-1 and J-1 Students

Facilitators: Justin Reid, International Student Engagement Manager and staff from the International Tax Office

The Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS), Human Resources (HR), and the International Tax Office (ITO) will host an informational overview of F-1 and J-1 on-campus employment. Students can learn about finding an on-campus job, immigration regulations for on-campus employment, the student hiring process, and how to apply for a social security card and other necessary documentation to start their employment successfully. 

"Real Talk" Career Discussion- For International Masters Students

Join OISS and OGPS for an authentic career discussion on searching for job opportunities post-graduation. This virtual event is tailored for Master’s international students in F-1 or J-1 status to gain firsthand insight into having career conversations with prospective employers. We will also discuss things to remember when looking for jobs and how to talk to employers about work authorization and sponsorship. OGPS serves all master's and PhD students in the School of Liberal Arts, School of Science and Engineering, School of Medicine - Biomedical Sciences, as well as PhD students in the Freeman School of Business and the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. The office also serves all postdoctoral fellows across the university.

Optional Practical Training Info Session for F-1 Students

Wednesday, September 18, 12:00- 1:00 PM

It is almost Optional Practical Training (OPT) season. Attend this Info Session and learn how the OPT process works for F-1 students. OPT allows F-1 students to work in their field of study for up to 12 months (36 months for certain STEM fields). OPT is available to all F-1 students who have held valid non-immigrant status for at least one academic year. If you are graduating in December, now is the time to learn more! We will also host Q&A sessions so you can ask individual questions. Check out our Wavesync page for all our Info Session events!
