In-Person Academic Training Info Session for J-1 Students
Tuesday, January 14, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Come learn about Academic Training! Academic Training is practical experience that must be authorized and relates to a student's field of study. Appropriate activities vary over disciplines. For example, postdoctoral academic training in biochemistry might consist of paid research at one location with one faculty adviser, where academic training in music may involve a number of paid or unpaid teaching or performance opportunities. Academic training may involve sequential or simultaneous activities, either paid or unpaid, with several employers, provided the application and approval procedures are followed for each employer and activity, and the time limits are not exceeded.
Virtual Curricular Practical Training (CPT) Info Session for F-1 Students

Join us for a virtual info session to learn about Curricular Practical Training (CPT)! CPT is a work authorization available to F-1 students to engage in paid or unpaid training opportunities off campus. The training must be an integral or important part of your program’s curriculum. CPT is only available to F-1 students during their program, and cannot be used after the completion of the program. Come learn about the process and ask questions!
On-Campus Employment Info Session for F-1 and J-1 Students

The Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS), Human Resources (HR), and the International Tax Office (ITO) will host an informational overview for F-1 and J-1 On-Campus Employment. Students can learn about finding an on-campus job, immigration regulations for on-campus employment, the student hiring process, and how to apply for a social security card and other necessary documentation to start their employment successfully.

H-1B Cap: Everything you need to know about the H-1B lottery with Ware|Immigration

Join us for a presentation led by attorneys at Ware|Immigration! During this webinar, they will discuss H-1B cap filings including the online registration system. They will also present an overview of the H-1B classification including the basic requirements for this nonimmigrant status, the transition from OPT to H-1B, employer obligations and timelines in addition to the USCIS’ changes for this year’s cap season.
Optional Practical Training (OPT) Overview Info Session for F-1 Students

It is almost Optional Practical Training (OPT) season. Attend this Info Session and learn how the OPT process works for F-1 students. OPT allows F-1 students to work in their field of study for up to 12 months (36 months for certain STEM fields). OPT is available to all F-1 students who have held valid non-immigrant status for at least one academic year. If you are graduating in May, now is the time to learn more! This session will provide a broad overview of the process.
