All visiting J-1 scholars who are not employed by Tulane University must purchase and be enrolled in a university-sponsored health insurance plan for the dates of their J-1 program. Please see the process for choosing a plan and review the two options below. Special group F-1 and J-1 students (students whose program does not include a regular fall or spring semester) should consult their program about their insurance requirements.
J-1 Scholar Process
- Make your choice when OISS asks as part of the immigration documentation creation process.
- You will be enrolled in insurance coverage by Tulane staff within 6 weeks of the start date of your J-1 program.
- You will receive instructions for the steps you need to take to complete enrollment and pay for the coverage.
