Alternate Insurance Option for J-1Scholars

GeoBlue® Plan

GeoBlue is an alternate university-sponsored health insurance plan available to  J-1 scholars. This insurance exceeds the federal J exchange visitor requirements. Please note that its coverage level is lower than the coverage of the Tulane-sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan (T-SHIP).  If you choose the GeoBlue insurance plan, you will be required to pay the cost of enrollment which will be put on your Tulane university feebill. The University does not receive any benefits for enrolling students in GeoBlue.

Important Notes

  • While the GeoBlue insurance can be used for services and medications in the Campus Health Center, there is not a specialist on staff who can refer you to doctors in the New Orleans community.
  • GeoBlue insurance does not cover the cost of immunizations. If you will need to get immunizations in the United States, you should consider opting for the T-SHIP.
