2024 Tax Season Information for Internationals in F and J Status

It is tax season in the United States.  All non-resident aliens for tax purposes have to fill out tax paperwork even if they have not worked in the US. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Code contains special provisions that apply to non-immigrants in F and J status.  For foreign students and scholars, certain income may be exempt from tax payment. The deadline for filing: 

  • Federal income taxes with Form 8843: April 15, 2025
  • Louisiana State income taxes: May 15, 2025
