From May 27 to May 31, our office will be closed.  May 27, Tulane University is closed in observance of Memorial Day.  May 28- May 31, the entire OISS team will be attending the NAFSA Annual Conference.  As the most important annual event for international educators, this conference will provide our team with vital updates and ideas that will help us to better serve our international community.  As a bonus, we’re using this opportunity to update the carpet at 6901 Willow. 

If you have any timely requests, such as an OPT, CPT, or Academic Training application or a program extension, please be sure to get complete application to your OISS advisor no later than Friday, May 17 to allow for 3 to 5 business days for processing.  If not, we may not be able to complete your request before the conference. 

During this time, we’ll be monitoring our email for true immigration emergencies, but please be sure to expect a delay in our response.  We’ll still be there if you really need us.

Instructions for Hiring Department

The Tulane department must submit the following items to OISS:

  1. Employee Attestation Form: Employment dates should reflect the intended or approximate number of months or years the Tulane department is willing to sponsor the H-1B visa. Generally, U.S. employers may ask for a maximum of 3 years for the initial H-1B petition.
  2. H-1B Prevailing Wage Request Form: Complete ALL fields based on the MINIMUM requirements to enter the job offered. Do NOT tailor the requirements based on your H-1Bcandidate’s or H-1B employee’s credentials. If some fields are not applicable, please put N/A doNOT leave blank.
  3. H-1B Actual Wage Worksheet from Workforce Management Organization: Complete a comparison of all other workers of the same title, duties and rank, forward only to OISS. Please handle as CONFIDENTIAL. Do NOT share or show this wage worksheet with your H-1B employee.
  4. H-1B Premium Processing Addendum: Complete ONLY if requesting this optional expedited service from the government (USCIS)
  5. Signed H-1B Support Letter
  6. Applicable H-1B Petition filing fees:
  • $325.00 Filing Fee
  • $500.00 Fraud Prevention and Detection Fee: Applicable ONLY for an INITIAL H-1B(First Time H-1B Tulane Employee). The hiring department MUST pay this fee. Employer cannot pass this cost to the prospective H-1B employee.
  • OPTIONAL: $1,225 Premium Process fee: This is NOT a mandatory government filing fee. Applicable ONLY if requesting expedited service through government (USCIS) processing. Employee or Department may pay this fee depending on the circumstance. USCIS will review the H-1B petition within 15 calendar days.

Check Writing Instructions:

  • Each payment must have a separate check or money order in the exact amount.
