Important Tax Information for F and J Visa Holders - 2025 Tax Filing Season
Greetings, international students!
You are receiving this email so that we may provide information about potential tax responsibilities you may have as an international student.
Your responsibilities will vary depending on your tax status. Please keep in mind that your tax status is not the same as your immigration status. Your tax residency status is important because it affects:
- Which tax forms you file to the IRS
- What income you are taxed on
- Eligibility for tax credits and deductions
If you need more information on determining your tax residency status, click here.
If you were present in the United States for ANY amount of time in 2025 as a nonresident alien for tax purposes, you are required to submit the appropriate tax forms to the IRS by the deadlines listed below, even if you earned no U.S. income.
Federal income taxes with Form 8843 are due on April 15, 2026. Louisiana State income taxes are due May 15, 2026.
Please see the website below for more detailed information.
