End of Semester  Reminders

As the semester comes to an end, we write with some friendly reminders that we hope will help you maintain immigration status, whether you intend to stay in the US or travel abroad.

First, we invite you to make sure that the program end-date on your I-20 or DS-2019 matches the date you expect to graduate or finish your program.  If you have been delayed or will otherwise remain at Tulane beyond the date on your immigration document, you will need to request a program extension from OISS.   This request will need to be completed prior to the date currently on your I-20 or DS-2019.

Program Extensions for F-1 Students

If you expect to complete your program later than the end date on your I-20, you will need to request an extension.   Please fill out an extension application, obtain the necessary financial documents, and submit it using this form as soon as possible. This must be completed before the end date on your I-20.

OPT for F-1 Students

If you are graduating and would like to apply for OPT, please be sure to request your OPT I-20 using the OPT Request E-Form and apply to USCIS before the end of your grace period.

Major Changes for F-1 Students

If the major stated on your I-20 is not your current one, please submit a request for an updated I-20.

Program Extensions and Academic Training for J-1 Students

If you expect to complete your program later than the end date on your DS-2019, or if you are planning to participate in an internship using Academic Training, you will need to request to an extension.  Please contact Dessa Crum at dcrum@tulane.edu  at your earliest opportunity to plan for your extension. This must be completed before the end date on your DS-2019.

Travel

We understand that as international students, travel is an important part of your experience, and we are still urging caution when planning any non-essential international travel.  For tips on planning your travel, please see our Travel Signature Reminder Page.

We wish you a happy end of the school year, whatever your plans are.

Sincerely,

The OISS Team
