Beginning on May 29, the main entrance to our office at 6901 Willow St will be closed due to remodeling for the front desk. During this time, students and scholars will not be able to enter our office using the front door. To access our building during the renovations, please use the side door located on the side of our building closest to the PJs on Willow St. Once you enter, follow the signage to the temporary front desk. OISS will remain open for normal business hours during the construction. We anticipate the construction should be complete in 2-3 weeks. Thank you for your patience.

Tulane Welcomes Grupo Opni

This week we have the pleasure of welcoming to Tulane's campus Grupo Opni, an activist group from São Mateus, Brazil that uses graffiti art to demonstrate ideas of cultural and racial resistance. Grupo Opni will host live graffiti demonstrations and discussions today and tomorrow, September 11 and September 12.

You can catch them today, September 11, on Hebert Lawn from 12:15 pm - 4:00 pm, where they will be working with Rosanne Adderley's history class to recreate panels depicting slave rebellion in Brazil. Tomorrow, September 12, Grupo Opni will have a live graffiti demonstration around the themes of global understanding, breaking stereotypes, and intercultural learning in LBC Pocket Park from 9 am - 12 pm. They will be present at our Global Café, also located in LBC Pocket Park, from 2 pm - 4 pm on September 12 to answer your questions and discuss their work. Additionally, Grupo Opni will participate in the Taylor Tuesday Residential Life Community from 6 pm - 8 pm on September 12 at the Paterson Changemakers RLC, where they will host participatory graffiti and a demonstration.
