A Message of Support from OISS

Dear Tulane International Students and Scholars,

As the U.S. closes another election season, we understand that many of you may be experiencing feelings of uncertainty about what lies ahead.  At OISS we acknowledge these concerns, and we want you to know that we’re together with you on your immigration journey.

At the start of every semester, I welcome each group of international students to campus by pointing out how proud I feel that they have chosen to study here over anywhere else, and that we depend on our international students and scholars to make Tulane a truly international space.  You are an integral part of our community, and it is because of your diverse perspectives and experiences that Tulane is able to provide so many in its community with the cross-cultural understanding necessary to take them anywhere else in the world.  Your contributions enrich Tulane in more ways than I could describe. OISS and I value you, your presence, your experience and the impact you bring, and we are committed to providing an inclusive environment where you feel welcome and wanted.

We know that you have questions about potential changes in policies or laws that may impact you.   What we promise is that the OISS team will be closely monitoring any related developments, and we will share any updates with you promptly, along with our best advice.  Our priority is to keep you informed, supported, and prepared to succeed here at Tulane and in the U.S.

If you need additional guidance or support, our doors are always open, and we’re ready to assist in any way we can.  Reach out to your advisors for any questions you may have. Stay engaged.  And find assurance in the knowledge that you are valued, and that we’re dedicated to your success.

In solidarity,
Frank Calabrese & The OISS Team
