Announcing the Global Observer!
The Center for Global Education is excited to announce the first piece from the inaugural issue of our new magazine, The Global Observer! The magazine was envisioned by the Office of Study Abroad peer advising staff as a way to showcase the talent and perspectives of study abroad students, international students and students, faculty and staff at Tulane University who have an interest in global issues. Over the course of the 2017-18 school year, our office solicited submissions connected to the theme, Tourism, encouraging potential contributors to think about all of the ways that sites are influenced and impacted by tourist activity. Through the publication of this magazine, we at CGE hope to encourage reflections on the life-changing aspects of engaging in intercultural exchange.
We've collected many submissions over the past few months, including essays, poems and photography, and will share them on our website and in print. Our first published piece, a poem, was written by Zharia Jeffries, an English and Communication major who studied abroad in Senegal during the summer of 2017. Visit the Global Observer: Volume 1 home page to read the poem and check back often to see the rest of the submissions!
A big thanks to our peer advisors and staff advising team for making this happen!
