How did studying abroad affect your academic and/or professional career?
I learned about Cuba's relations with America and how the blockade has affected the culture there. I am also minoring in Spanish so I got to practice that and take a course.
How did you explore your hobbies, interests, and passions abroad?
I got to explore the city which I love to do. I also did a lot of practicing of Spanish which was cool.
Why would you recommend your respective abroad program or location?
Cuba is a really unique country. Since the blockade, Cuba has been in a time capsule. However, with change on the horizon in Cuba, the chances to see this preserved society are dwindling.
What should students consider when applying and preparing for their time abroad?
How the culture of a country is completely different than what you will expect. Expect the unexpected.
Share a story about a time you experienced cultural immersion.
Going to a Cuban club and talking and dancing with locals. It was really cool and a great experience.
