International Showcase

Join us April 28th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM in LBC, Qatar Ballroom.

The showcase will be held on Tuesday, April 28 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the LBC, Qatar Ballroom. It is an opportunity to showcase Tulane's vibrant and unique community through cultural exhibits, crafts, and food. The afternoon will be full of fun and activities, so we can all celebrate and enjoy our different cultures. All students, scholars, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend and participate.

Participating in the showcase comes in three forms:

  • Culture Booth
  • Art Exhibition
  • Performance

Of course, all are welcome to attend regardless of the level of participation!

Food

The showcase will feature catering from local vendors that students love! We will have dishes from:

  • Asher African Market
  • Lebanon's Cafe
  • Namaste Nola
  • Nirvana
  • N8tive Grub
  • Empanola
  • Sogbu NOLA
  • Tulane Hospitality

Culture Booth

Organizations will have a table (or Culture Booth) where they can lead an activity for attendees about their culture, country, or region. Activities can include:

  • Games Informational handout
  • Craft or art project
  • Mini presentation
  • Trivia
  • Fashion display
  • And more!

  • International Student Advisory Board (ISAB)
  • Tulane African Student Assoication (TASA)
  • Society for the Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans and Science (SACNAS)
  • Tulane Indigenous Students, Healers, Leaders and Allies (ISHLA)
  • South Asian Graduate Student Assoication (SAGA) 
  • Tulane University Filipino Students Association (TUFSA)
  • Austria
  • South Asian Association of Tulane University (SAATU)
  • Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS)
  • Tulane School of Liberal Arts, Chinese Language Programs

Performance Application

This semester, participants will also be able to lead a performance for attendees at the showcase. Performances can include:

  • Singing
  • Dancing
  • Playing an instrument
  • A fashion show
  • And more!

We will have a performance at 5:00 PM done by members of the Tulane community! Shriya Dev, Sneha Kannan, and Farhana Chaudhry will perform Bharathanatyam.

Art Exhibition

This semester, we are also adding an International Art Exhibition. This element of the International Showcase is for students only. Students can submit their work to be featured in a static display that will be exhibited at the showcase. Art can include: 

  • Visual arts, such as photography or painting
  • Literary arts, such as poetry or short stories
  • And more!
