May 17 Update:  The Office of International Students and Scholars will be operating remotely on Friday, May 17 in order to support the various commencement activities taking place that day on the uptown campus.

OISS Office Closure May 27-31: From May 27 to May 31, our office will be closed.  May 27, Tulane University is closed in observance of Memorial Day.  May 28- May 31, the entire OISS team will be attending the NAFSA Annual Conference.  As the most important annual event for international educators, this conference will provide our team with vital updates and ideas that will help us to better serve our international community.

If you have any timely requests, such as an OPT, CPT, or Academic Training application or a program extension, please be sure to get complete application to your OISS advisor no later than Friday, May 17 to allow for 3 to 5 business days for processing.  If not, we may not be able to complete your request before the conference.

During this time, we’ll be monitoring our email for true immigration emergencies, but please be sure to expect a delay in our response.  We’ll still be there if you really need us.

Thank you for your cooperation,

The OISS Team

Hosting Special International Groups

We encourage the development of programs which will contribute to diversity, enhance research, and compliment the mission of our University. The Office for International Students and Scholars is here to advise program developers and sponsors regarding the most appropriate way to successfully bring students and scholars to the US. Navigating the sea of immigration regulations may seem daunting, and some may fear that their program may be thwarted due to constraining policies and procedures. OISS is here to help you meet your goals and produce a program which is successful and sustainable from an immigration standpoint.

The Approval Process

All programs that bring internationals to be students at Tulane University and fall outside of the traditional academic calendar should seek approval and visa determination from the OISS.  Learn more.

Next Steps After Special Group Approval

After getting the programs approved, the admitting process starts.  In addition, pre departure communications and an orientation are coordinated.  Learn more.

Repeat Programs

If the program is a repeat of a previously- approved program, there is also a streamlined process to help coordinate the new cycle. Learn more.
